Dishoom – King’s Cross, London, UK

Arrived at 6pm, and was told it will be at least an hour before the 2 of us can be seated. TBDV is hungry! Well, to be brutally honest, thirsty!

Stay tuned for further details….

………………………………………………….

Thankfully, the wait wasn’t quite an hour, and we were very grateful to the Dishoom crew for offering us masala chai while queuing to keep the cold at bay.

Seated at one of the lounge tables –

– and immediately settled in with one of these –

– Dishoom’s own brand IPA, brewed for them Mondo Brewing Company. This is an easy drinking IPA, which is well suited to the food on Dishoom’s menu.

Food kicked off with –

– Pav Bhaji. A mixed vegetable curry, served with warm buttered bread rolls, originally a snack served on street sides in Mumbai. Dishoom’s take on it totally hit the spot – not too rich or buttery, with enough spice to keep things interesting.

We followed up with Bhel, Chili Cheese Toast and their famous Black Dal – a slow cooked, rich Dal that was perfect for a cold and wet evening.

All in all, a most enjoyable meal. Dishoom seems able to strike a great balance, appealing to people looking for a traditional Indian meal, to punters looking for a drink and a snack, through to people just looking g to have a cocktail or six.

TBDV verdict: 🍺🍺🍺🍺
