Where Have You Been?? (Asks Absolutely Nobody…)

So…. it’s been a while, huh?

The last time TBDV put fingers to a keyboard, the Impossible Burger was a novelty, people were still debating whether plant-based “meat” was a fad, and ordering a Hazy IPA got you looks of mild confusion in some bars.

A few things have changed since then.

Where has The Beer Drinking Vegetarian been hiding? Let’s just say he swapped the customer side of the bar for the other side – a fair few years spent in the beer trade: tasting more beers than is probably wise, visiting great new venues, and meeting some brilliant people. It’s time to hit ‘pause’ on that chapter, and get back to the serious work of eating, drinking, and sharing reviews and thoughts.

The world has moved on a fair bit since this site was last updated. Plant-based burgers are no longer a novelty, but are instead a regular part of many venues, from fast food to fine dining.

Craft beer has been on a bit of a rollercoaster too – from an exciting boom, lots of new faces, and some tough times.

Through all of this, TBDV’s fundamental question remains the same – where can a slightly fussy vegetarian find a genuinely good meal, and a decent beer to pair it with.

So, normal service will be resuming. Restaurant reviews, beer reviews, and stubborn opinions from time to time. It’s good to be back.
